This message typically occurs in a SecurityEXPERT window after you've installed
SecurityEXPERT, then try to access the SecurityEXPERT database, but your

Some third party Internet filters, including iPrism, may block access to

Why do SecurityEXPERT
screens sometimes display slowly?
SecurityEXPERT is a .NET application, requiring periodic JIT compilation,
screens are slower when JIT compilation occurs on the web application

"Could
not Change the Status to Started"
Typically seen in the Enforcement Report, and indicates that the service
on the target machine is "disabled". The solution is to also
enforce the Startup Type at the same time, setting it to either Manual

String was not in a correct format"
If you get this message when opening a Scan report (instead of the report
itself), it indicates that scan data is missing or corrupted for that
particular scan. Typically, it's one security point in the template or
policy causing the problem, and occurs due to expected data, like a registry
value, not being present in the registry of the system that was scanned.
It is recommended you contact Tech-Support for troubleshooting advice.

Note: the UpdateEXPERT database is used to notify the user of available Security Templates via the Security Templates Tab and the Query command. For example, the availability of security templates for other platforms and applications, such as Windows 2000 and IE, will occur as future UpdateEXPERT database updates.
"Live
Update has no change to apply"
This means your UpdateEXPERT patch database is up-to-date, and also implies
you have the latest SecurityEXPERT security templates.

Note: the SecurityEXPERT datastore are the SEDataStore.mdf and SEDataStore.ldf files in the "data" folder of MSDE (MSSQL$SBSDB) or possibly an SEDataStore database in a local instance of SQL Server, and is used store the template security point data. Storing security point data occurs when the user does a "Download" operation from UpdateEXPERT. This database also stores scan results and any other data produced by the user while using SecurityEXPERT, such as stored security profiles.
