Note: This article's parent is What's New in UpdateEXPERT Premium 7.02?
UpdateEXPERT now provides for the filtering of managed machines in the network pane.
Enumerate at least one domain. Go to View > Machine Filter and name your filter (ByMachineName below).
For an initial test, filter using “Machine Name” field (use the asterisk for wildcarding, as in example below), ie., if you have machine1 and machine2, filter with machine*.

Try filtering by other criteria.
Machine Filters are saved and automatically re-applied at Console launch
Each Top-Level Container can have it's own filter (Microsoft Network, Active Directory, Unix, Groups, but not Profiles)
Set Machine Filters by right-clicking the Top-Level container, or use View > Machine Filter
The Top-Level filters can be the same filter, or different filters (careful, this may confuse!)
Use <Unfiltered> to switch back to an unfiltered view (this is how you get un-confused!)
Filters are stored on a per-user basis, just like custom report settings, so another users confusing filters don't impact you!
Multiple filtering criteria are logically "AND"ed to provide scope control
You can use Profiles (typically filtering by OS) as a Machine Filter, or in combination with additional filtering criteria
You can filter by IP address range, good for delegated subnets
You can filter by "Added to View" (UpdateEXPERTs view), ie., locate new machines on the network. This in combination with IP Scan should allow locating all machines in the network by IP address, regardless of name-resolution.
