Reports

This directory is where html reports are temporarily written so they can be viewed from UpdateEXPERT. A commonly used trick is to bookmark the report in UpdateEXPERT to preserve the tempfile (for emailing or filing away, for example). Assuming you run the report and keep it displayed in UpdateEXPERT, or bookmark it, you can find the report using the wildcarded naming convention shown here:

> dir UEReport*.html
.
.
.
UEReport0000Machine Info Report.html
(Name of found report, for example. All reports follow this naming style)

For more information on reports, start with How do I save a copy of a report?

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\UpdateEXPERT\UpdateEXPERT.dat

Console Data  File

This file is created by the Console when launching.

C:\%WinDir%\ue_installs

Patch Install Temp Directory

This directory contains UEInstallService.exe (UpdateEXPERT patch Installer) and any patches to be installed on the target. It's a temporary working directory, so patches don't accumulate.  Note that Unix systems don't have a pre-defined install directory; instead it's defined by the UpdateEXPERT administrator. See Getting Started with RedHat & Solaris.
