Additional Master-Agents can help support the following:
Sharing patch management duties by using different Masters to manage different network regions.
Installing a Master-Agent on the "other side" of a slow link for improved localized patch deployment performance. For example, if a branch office is accessed over a relatively slow T1 link, installing a Master-Agent in the branch office and having it download and deploy patches from within the branch office is much more efficient than pushing patches over the slow T1 line for each and every target machine in the branch office. Agents (Master or Leaf) are installed locally or remotely using the "Agent Installer".
Using one Master to query and report on all machines network wide, while using other Masters for actual patch deployment. This is typically done to aggregate reporting, which is normally done on a per-Master basis.
A Master-Agent instance generates or has its own:
Reports
Logging
Registry Information
Leaf Agent affiliations
Download directory
