When configuring Microsoft OS Workstations/Servers in a Novell network, make sure that "Client for Microsoft Networks" and "File and Printer Sharing" and TCP/IP are enabled as shown below, which they normally are by default.
To find this screen, right-click the "Network-Neighborhood" icon on the desktop, select "Properties", right-click your LAN connection, select "Properties" and find the screen below.
In addition, the Microsoft Workstations/Servers will typically have another separate client (often called a NetWare client) installed for accessing Novell NetWare machines and services. Both Novell and Microsoft have NetWare clients for Microsoft machines available.
Here's an example of what Novell NetWare Client 4.83 looks like.
If Microsoft "Domain Controllers" are in use in the mixed Microsoft/Novell network, you will be able to specify "domain" credentials in UpdateEXPERT, using "Set Credentials".
If "Domain Controllers" are NOT in use, then UpdateEXPERT will need machine-specific administrative credentials (existing on each Windows Workstation or Server), to be specified.
