Why don't I see recent or new patches?

Seeing recent or new updates typically requires doing two tasks:

Updating your Database

If it appears that patches are available from Microsoft that are not in your patch listing, it may be that your database needs updating. The remediation database is kept up to date manually ("HELP | Update Database Now"), or scheduled (scroll down to "Schedule Database Updates") by going to "File|Agent|Settings", "Updates" tab, "Automatically update" checkbox. You can easily update your database and confirm the version number to know you have the latest database.

Re-Querying your Machines

Query the machines you intend to patch to get a fresh patch "inventory". Querying can be done manually, or scheduled (scroll down to "Perform Querying") by going to "File|Agent|Settings", "General" tab, "Background Query" checkbox.

Service-Packs Affect Your Patch Listing!

If a machine is installed with SP3, you will see post-SP3 patches, but not SP4 patches. That is because SP4 is not installed on this machine yet and is a pre-requisite to seeing post-SP4 patches. Your patch inventory is machine specific, depending on Service Pack level.

Supercedence Affects Your Patch Listing!

Note that if a newer patch superceding an older patch is installed on the target, the older patch will not be listed by UpdateEXPERT as an "available" patch. This is one of the benefits of the remediation database, it eliminates unnecessary patches from your view.

Product Dependencies Affect Your Patch Listing!

Note that if a patch is for a certain revision of product, and that revision of product is not already installed when you query, then that patch will NOT be shown as available in the patch listing since the patch pertains to a product version you don't have. This is one of the benefits of the remediation database.
