'UpdateEXPERT has detected a mismatched version'

The Master-Agent and Console have a version dependency. The Master-Agent and Leaf-Agent also have a version dependency, but Leaf-Agents get upgraded automatically by the Master-Agent, whereas Consoles are upgraded via manual installation. When you have upgraded the Master-Agent or the Console, but not both, the next attempted connection between the mis-matched versions of these components will typically generate one of two messages. You will get the message:

• "The Master Agent Version is Older than the UpdateEXPERT console version" or...

• "UpdateEXPERT has detected a mismatched version between the console and the master agent" (This Article)

The "mis-matched" message above (2nd bullet) typically occurs when the Master-Agent machine has been upgraded, but the Console machine you are using has not been upgraded.

This typically happens when multiple consoles have been installed (for convenience) for multiple users that want to connect to the Master-Agent machine. While the Master-Agent and Console get upgraded on the Master-Agent machine, and while Leaf-Agents get upgraded in the "background" by the Master-Agent, this does not happen for stand-alone instances of the Console component.

The resolution is simple; simply run setup.exe for UpdateEXPERT on the Console machine, select custom install, make sure you are only installing the Console component if there is no Master-Agent on your machine already, and this will upgrade the Console to the new version. You can then connect to the Master-Agent that was giving you the error earlier.
