Does UpdateEXPERT6.x support validation?

UpdateEXPERT6 has included validation capability since its release (6.0). The code in UpdateEXPERT6 supports more robust validation than previous versions. However, validation criteria (metadata) needed to be added to the remediation database, which began occurring with the 6.1 release. Due to the scope of this data requirement, not all patches for all products have metadata available at this time.

UpdateEXPERT will provide full validation functionality for all supported components at some point in the future. Prior to achieving full validation functionality, validation criteria for some components will be added to the database, release by release, until all components are fully supported.

English Language Validation metadata has been added for the following:

The patches not included above are "obsoletes", "private", or have "bad download" locations. Some old patches simply cannot be "dissected" in order to get Validation criteria. It is believed that the vast majority of OS patches that matter, are in fact, covered, and Microsoft themselves are more consistent in their patch building techniques than they used to be. We can support Validation criteria for private patches if requested.

German Language Validation metadata has been added for the following:

Downloading the Database

Note that Validation metadata implies an approximately 30% larger database (10MB, up from 7MB). This means initial database download will take a little longer and that database updates will also take a bit longer. Neither of these actions normally took very long to begin with (< minute).

Tip: If you are on a very slow link (56KB), you should increase the default timeout value from 20 seconds to 120 seconds in "FILE | AGENT | SETTINGS | Internet Tab."
